Pop of color

As much fun as it can be to mix patterns and combine complementary & contrasting colors on any palate, including your wardrobe; I am & will always be partial to neutrals.  With that said, even an entire outfit consisting of neutrals can work if the pieces are of a contrasting style.  Flowy mixed with fitted, or short mixed with long, will succeed in adding interest to your ensemble.  And even old faux pas like mixing navy with black or white with off-white are not only acceptable, but can easily be made fresh & modern.

Now, along with my love for neutrals, I also love a good pop of color in an outfit.  If you have a show-stopping piece (or just a brand new addition to your wardrobe) that you want to stand out, whether it’s a pair of shoes or a bag, the best way to do it is to combine it with neutrals.

Here, I paired my standout piece, a Longchamp Quadri Leather Crossbody Bag in a bright poppy red shade, with an amazingly flowy & buttery soft Enza Costa long jersey tank top on pre-order from the Pre-Fall 2015 collection that you can find at Nordstrom.  I combined these with a pair of 3″ chino shorts from J.Crew in white (again I love the white + off-white combo) that would also be gorgeous in the Huntington Green shade as well.  With a pair of L’Amour Des Pieds ‘Danay’ Ankle Strap Sandals in the perfectly neutral shade of Nude Nappa.

You can easily transition this outfit to fall with a cute jean jacket or chic leather jacket and you can easily kick it up a notch with a hot pair of nude pumps!

Happy weekend my lovelies! Make it a good one…you’ve waited all week for it! xo

Transitioning into fall

Hi y’all!  The nice thing about living in the south and being from the north is you can use either accent or sayings from either location & it works!  Anyway, this is my first fashion post…so excited!!  And I wanted to touch on the idea of transitioning into fall with your wardrobe.  My feeling is that it’s not necessary to immediately switch to fall colors, but more that it’s important to be able to wear something that suits the current weather situation where ever you may be. In the north, it’s a little more noticeable, but even in the south, it’s easy to tell the transition is starting.   It’s still warm during the day, but getting a little cooler at night.   So, my current pick for right now is a three-quarter sleeve shift dress from Lilly Pulitzer, a pair of McKim Wedge Sandals also from Lilly, and a the Mini Mac Cross Body Bag from Rebecca Minkoff.   The bag is available in a variety of colors from Nordstrom, currently my favorite color is the Smoke/Silver.  The sandals are available year round, and although the dress is not currently available in this style, the Layton Short Sleeve Dress is a gorgeous short sleeve version in a vibrant blue, & any of the Lilly shift dresses even if sleeveless, can be worn with a cardigan or a cute jean jacket & you are easily transitioned!  Bag Dress Sandals
