Hello & Happy Saturday friends! Being that it is a new year & a fresh start, today I am going to be talking to you about cleanses! As some of you may have also experienced, after all of the high carb, high sugar foods of the holidays, I was left feeling a little bloated & bogged down, which is why I decided to try doing a cleanse! As a result, I am bringing to you my experience with Suja Organic Fresh pressed juices, of which they have 1, 3, and 5 day cleanses available. Now, you can do the Original Fresh Start which is recommended for first timers or more active individuals, and has slightly more calories. Or you can do the Core Fresh Start, which is what I tried, for more experienced juicers & individuals looking to limit sugar intake and/or those who want a lower calorie content.
For my program, each day you start out with an organic green juice blend of apples, celery, cucumber, kale, collard greens, spinach, peppermint, & spearmint tea (Glow). Then mid-morning, you consume a blend of carrot, cucumber, celery, apple, red beet, and lemon juice (Purify). For lunch, and dinner, you consume another green juice blend of celery, cucumber, collard greens, lemon, kale, green chard, parsley, ginger, romaine lettuce, green leaf lettuce, spinach, peppermint & spearmint tea (Twelve Essentials). For mid-afternoon, you consume a blend of apple juice, celery, cucumber, kale, collard greens, spinach, lemon, and ginger (Reef). Then lastly, for “dessert”, you consume a blend of apple juice, organic almond milk, blueberries, chia seeds, lucuma, cinnamon, and vanilla bean (Blue Dream). So that comes out to 6 16 oz. juices per day.
Now, I will admit, although I consume a large amount of fruits and especially vegetables regularly, partly due to the fact that I was a vegetarian for a number of years. It was still very difficult the first 1-2 days of the cleanse. Mostly for the fact of not being able to chew anything. Although they recommend sticking to the juices, they do say if you are more active or just in need of extra calories that you can consume raw veggies & fruits, half an avocado or broth based soups if necessary. So, I did have some cucumber slices & a few asparagus stalks over the course of the last couple of days.
What I am really excited to tell you about however, as well as what I’m sure those of reading are most anticipating, is learning the benefits of doing it & how I feel. First, I wouldn’t say you will necessarily be making more trips to the restroom than normal, which is a good thing. But one of the strangest things I have experienced however, is periodically feeling like I don’t smell as sweet as I normally do, which I had not anticipated! As well as just a general feeling of achiness almost the way it feels after you have an intense workout. I firmly believe those are due to toxins leaving the body, which is always a good thing! Not to mention, I have not been on the scale yet, but I can tell I have already lost some weight just by how my clothes fit. And I am only half-way done!
So, I definitely recommend trying the program for multiple reasons, including riding yourself of toxins, cleansing out your digestive system (it’s like Drano for your colon!), feeling better/less bloated, and for weight loss. Additionally, I recommend doing the 3-day cleanse, as the 1 day isn’t quite long enough, and the 5-day is a bit too much. Please give it a try my friends, I promise you will not be disappointed! xoxo ♥♥
